OSAP Funding for Micro-Credentials
If you are registering for the Data Science Certificate and/or courses(s), you may be eligible for up to $5,000 from the Ontario Student Assistance Program for Micro-credentials (OSAP for MCs) towards your courses. Each DSI course is considered a micro-credential program. This funding is part of Ontario’s micro-credentials strategy, helping learners access more opportunities to train or upskill for in-demand jobs through loans and grants.
How the OSAP reimbursement for the DSI Data Science Certificate program/course(s) works:
As each DSI course is considered a micro-credential program, you would apply for OSAP for MCs for each course.
The deadline for applying for OSAP for MCs is the last day of that particular course. Any supporting documents and requests must be received by OSAP no later than 5 days after the last day of the study period. However, we strongly recommend that you submit all required supporting documents before the end of the study period to avoid delays
Option 1 – Register and pay for your course(s) first. We recommend this option for courses that are beginning soon, in order to secure your spot in the course:
- Select your micro-credential Data Science course(s) and register for the course(s), paying the fees in full.
- Log-in to your OSAP account to apply for funding for the course micro-credential(s). If you do not have an OSAP account, you will need to set one up. The process of application may take some time, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
- The process requires you to fill out a form from University of Toronto Enrolment Services, which you can download here.
- You will not need to fill out the student number.
- For the name of the program, you will enter the name of the DSI course.
- For the [Tuition Costs], enter the total cost (i.e., the course tuition + the HST).
- There are no costs for books/materials.
- Please send the form to courses.dsi@utoronto.ca with your information and we will assist in completing the form in terms of required signature.
- Upload the form to your OSAP account for review; the review process may take 2 to 4 weeks.
- Once the OSAP review process is completed, you will receive your OSAP fund transferred to your bank account.
